Parasites (Worms)

  • Almost all kittens are born with worms. Some of these parasites can infect people so we are very careful to make sure that we keep our pets’ parasite free.

  • New kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks beginning at 3 weeks of age until they are 10 weeks old.

  • Older cats should be dewormed 3 to 4 times per year throughout their lives.

  • During their first kitten visit we routinely deworm all kittens for the most common parasites with either an oral or topical medication.

  • We recommend that you bring in a fecal sample to the first and last visit in order to make sure that we are treating for the correct parasites and that the deworming medication fully eliminates the parasites.
