Almost all kittens are born with worms. Some of these parasites can infect people so we are very careful to make sure that we keep our pets’ parasite free.
New kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks beginning at 3 weeks of age until they are 10 weeks old.
Older cats should be dewormed 3 to 4 times per year throughout their lives.
During their first kitten visit we routinely deworm all kittens for the most common parasites with either an oral or topical medication.
We recommend that you bring in a fecal sample to the first and last visit in order to make sure that we are treating for the correct parasites and that the deworming medication fully eliminates the parasites.
