Grooming

The Grooming Salon at the Shaker Hill Pet Resort, Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The salon offers a variety of services for dogs of all sizes, cats and small animals, such as ferrets. We have two certified groomers, Laura J. Graham with over twelve years of experience and Nadja Ramos who began her career as a Veterinary Technician before pursuing her skills as a pet stylist which she has done for over six years.

Clients of the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital can also book sedated grooms for dogs and cats. Nail trims and ear cleaning are included at no charge when full grooms or bath and brush are requested. We are also prepared to come to the aid of those dogs or cats unfortunate enough to have attempted to play with a skunk. We have a variety of high quality shampoos on hand and select those best suited for each animal’s needs at no additional charge, including oatmeal baths for sensitive skin or medicated shampoos. For special needs pets (elderly, physically challenged or anxious), express grooms may be requested at a nominal extra fee.

Appointments are made by phone during salon hours. We do recommend clients call two to three weeks in advance although we will do what we can to accommodate pets in dire need (such as those mentioned above that interact with things they shouldn’t). Nail trims can be scheduled a day or two in advance. Laura, who works part time Wednesday through Saturday, books appointments on an hourly basis beginning at 9:30 am. With prior notice given when appointments are made, pets may be dropped off beginning at 8 am and may remain until 4:30 pm. Nadja, who works full time Monday through Friday, asks that pets be dropped off between the hours of 8:30 am to 10:00 am.

When you arrive, your stylist will greet you and your pet in the Resort’s customer entrance and discuss with you the particulars of the service you requested. After evaluating the condition of our grooming client and determining the amount of time the groom will take, we will advise you when your pet will be ready for pick up or offer to call you when the service is finished. We make sure that, during his or her stay, our animal clients enjoy a safe, comfortable and reassuring environment and grooming experience, and that their humans can leave them in our care knowing we will treat them as we would our own!
