A dental cleaning and assessment is done after a significant amount of dental disease has been found on gross examination by your veterinarian. Your pet will undergo general anesthesia with any necessary oral surgery and a prophylaxis dental cleaning. Most of the time dental disease is not visually apparent as most diseases entail the tooth roots.
